| Background | Guppie was born in the kingdom of Exsailyn, which is located to the far north of Eldaraenth. Guppie's mother died bringing him into the world. Because of this, his father hated Guppie. Guppie's older brother William on the other hand took him under his wing and protected him. When they became of age, they were drafted into the king's army and were trained to become sentinels, the royal guard regiment. After a couple years of training they were given the task of escorting the duke along with a full platoon of Exsailyn soldiers down to the south in the hopes of establishing a colony in the southern realms which Guppie would learn to be known as Eldaraenth. When they reached the forested regions near Staggwood, they were ambushed by a horde of trolls. Guppie is critically injured and loses consciousness. When he comes to, he finds that he had been nursed back to health by an elven woman who had found him among the dead. Learning that all in his platoon had died, including his brother, Guppie decides to stay and dedicate his life to protect and serve the people of Eldaraenth, and to preserve the light. Guppie later meets up with a ragtag band of misfits and they discover the hidden area that they came to call the Blackwood Meadows. |
